These photos were taken weeks ago and I've been dying to share them with you, but had to wait till now to do so. I was challenged by Damart to style a faux fur gilet two different ways, and as this was an item of clothing I've been wanting to get for a couple of years I was more than ready for the challenge. (Funnily enough the weather was colder in August than it was last month as we had a glorious September, and it's only just chilly enough to wear the gilet properly now.)
I've created two outfits: one for evening and one for daytime, and for this post I've started with the latter. With the addition of a blue waffle sweater and a cute patchwork bag (both from Damart as well), I went with black peg leg trousers rather than jeans in order to create a comfortable-yet-still-smart silhouette. If you're not doing too much walking around, the screamingly-high wedges give your legs some length, though I'd swap them for my brogues or Derby shoes if walking were required.
Finally, the finishing touches came in the shape of a (very old) scarf I already owned that picks out the colours in the bag and sweater beautifully, and the oversized brooches that look stunning on faux fur... I can see myself covering the gilet in brooches. Maybe it's a reference to my grandmother who I just about remember: her signature look was a fur coat, loads of costume jewellery (brooches especially) - and bright red, dyed hair. Sound familiar?!
At the weekend I'll publish part 2, the night time look (think I love that one even more!). Have I whet your appetite for wintry clothes with my faux fur gilet? And how will you be styling your faux fur this autumn/winter - do share!

P.S. If someone told me to pick any 12 brooches I liked online, these are the ones I found and currently love (below). Suitable for all budgets, you might like some of them too!
Faux fur gilet: c/o Damart, Sweater: c/o Damart, Bag: c/o Damart, Trousers: Topshop, Shoes: Asos (these wedges aren't quite as high, but very similar - and I love these wedges from Nordstrom as a splurge), Scarf: Primark (old), Brooches: Accessorize (this one is a very similar starburst brooch)
